Turis was born from our frustration to work around the distances. Being away from home, we did not always have the luxury of having our favorite mouth-watering snacks or could easily send gift or unused items to our relatives or friends. Conversely, when we were at home, we found out it was not easy to get our favorite foreign flavors, which could be just a few steps away if we were overseas.
We realize that our problem arised due to the existence of distance. The distance prevents us from conveniently fulfilling our needs or achieving our goals. The distance also prevents us from having solid grasp and understanding about the other place, especially if we have never been there before.
We prevail the distance by traveling to the other place. But traveling may not be always easily afforded or done without some planning and preparation. Traveling also produces cost, which can outweigh the desire to simply satisfy the desire to feel a little bit taste of home.
So we approach this problem from a fresh perspective. What if we substitute our physical presence through other travelers, those who are having a round trip from our place to the place of interest or those who are coming to our place from the place of interest? There might be some people who are willing to help us buy the items with some agreed incentive.
And when we are about to go to a place especially the unknown, we can plan the trip properly and then travel with confidence. This means that we have all our trip information in one place, notified about our schedule, and spend time like locals when we were visiting, what is supposed to be an unknown place.
That’s how Turis was started.
