Asiana Airlines to Relocate to Incheon Airport Terminal 2 from January 14, 2026

KoreaTravel

Asiana Airlines and Korean Air are the two biggest carriers in South Korea. As of November 2025, Asiana Airlines operates out of Incheon Airport Terminal 1, while Korean Air operates at Terminal 2. In 2020, Korean Air started its bid to merge with Asiana Airlines. Having gone through the lengthy process to obtain approvals from the authorities in the key markets where Korean Air and Asiana Airlines operate, the merger was completed as majority ownership acquisition in December 2024. When the merger is fully concluded in 2026, Asiana Airlines will be dissolved and absorbed into Korean Air. This means that there will be no more Asiana Airlines brand in the future.

If you frequently fly with Asiana Airlines, you may be interested in knowing the recent development after the completion of acquisition approval to carrier operations at Incheon Airport, and how the acquisition may affect your future flight plan. Note that since Korean Air is based in Terminal 2 of Incheon Airport, it is actively consolidating its operations to be centered around Terminal 2.

It’s also worth noting that Korean Air owns several low cost carriers (LCCs) as its subsidiaries: Air Busan (BX), Air Seoul (RS), and Jin Air (LJ). Air Busan and Air Seoul were previously owned by Asiana Airlines and underwent ownership change to Korean Air due to the acquisition of Asiana Airlines. Few years ago, these LCC subsidiaries operated from Incheon Airport Terminal 1. However, as of November 2025, all of the Korean Air’s LCC subsidiaries have been relocated to Terminal 2:

  • Jin Air (LJ) relocated to Terminal 2 since July 1st, 2023
  • Air Busan (BX) relocated to Terminal 2 since July 29th, 2025
  • Air Seoul (RS) relocated to Terminal 2 since September 9th, 2025

So, when is it the Asiana’s turn to move to Incheon Airport Terminal 2?

Asiana Airlines Check-in Counters Relocation Plan to Terminal 2

Earlier this month, Asiana Airlines announced on its website that it will finally relocate its operations to Incheon Airport Terminal 2 starting from January 14th, 2026. Asiana flights departing or arriving by January 13th, 2026 at Incheon Airport will still be using Terminal 1. However, from January 14th, 2026 onward, all Asiana flights will depart from and arrive at Incheon Airport Terminal 2.

Asiana Airlines will use check-in counters in Section G to Section J at Incheon Airport Terminal 2 starting from January 14th, 2026. The relocation to Terminal 2 will substantially increase Terminal 2 utilization since some check-in aisles in the terminal are still empty or in under utilization as of November 2025.
